Hirondelle can be declined in various ways! It is a model both suitable for mid-season and summer season. In this article, I will present you all the details that make the charm of this pattern 😊
Numerous details
Hirondelle’s upper part is delicately highlighted by a heart-shaped neckline.
This type of neckline close to the square neckline brings a touch of femininity while remaining wearable on a daily basis.
The heart neckline is as glamorous as it is trendy this season 😉
It sublimates both strong breasts and smaller breasts.
The cut of this model highlights the upper part of the body through a princess cut.
💡 For a very nice fall of your dress, I explain in the booklet all the steps to adjust the bust of Hirondelle to your morphology and your height. You will find the methodology to sew you a muslin (toile) without finishing and determine the necessary adjustments according to your cup size in particular. If your cup size is smaller than a B cup or larger than a C/D cup, you may need to make a SBA or an FBA. But no worries I’ll explain how to do it 😉
If like me you are a fan of ruffles and frills of all kinds and you try to insert them everywhere you can you can highlight the princess cutouts of the front part of the bust with ruffles.
If you are not too much into the ruffle team, you can also add a piping or a ribbon to subtly underline this cut and bring a touch of originality to your garment.
Now let’s talk about the Hirondelle back 😍
For this summer season I wanted to offer you a garment with a back that you would want to show off!
However, I wanted this pattern to also be wearable during the cooler season or for various events. That’s why I thought of this triangular opening and this cross back.
This opening in the back is bra compatible and subtly lifted by a yoke and its ruffle (I told you I was a fan of ruffles 😜).
For an even more feminine back, I wanted to add a set of pleats.
The waist of the garment is delicately highlighted by a multitude of flat pleats.
These bring fullness to the lower part of the garment without weighing down the waist.
You can also vary the rendering by choosing fabrics that mark more or less the fold for a more blurred or structured effect.
Various options
You can make the model your own by choosing the length of the bottom part, so you can sew yourself a blouse for every day, a short dress for beautiful days and a midi dress for weddings or other summer ceremonies 😉
The first length suggested to sew this model is the blouse length. The bottom of the blouse Hirondelle arrives approximately in the middle of the buttock.
The front part of the model is slightly gathered to bring a little volume without exaggerating.
Two lengths of dresses are proposed in the pattern. The first one is the short length that comes above the knee (for 66″ height). You can sew a ruffle at the bottom of the skirt to bring more movement. The length of both dresses (with and without ruffle) is the same.

A midi length dress is also available. This one arrives more or less in the middle of the calf depending on your stature. You can also sew a ruffle at the bottom of the dress if you wish.

The possibilities don’t stop there with Hirondelle, you also have four sleeve options. You can sew the sleeves that suit you best: sleeveless, ruffled sleeves, short sleeves or 3/4 sleeves, the choice is yours!
For a formal look or for fall/winter you can sew Hirondelle with 3/4 sleeves. These sleeves are slightly ballooned on the top of the sleeve. These sleeves are called tiered, they are formed by tightening the sleeve with an elastic or smocks. The bottom of the sleeve is also tightened by a sleeve band.
If you want to sew a mid-season or summer version, a short sleeve option is also offered in the pattern. This sleeve has a balloon shape that adds a bit of fullness to the top of the garment and gives it a chic and feminine touch. The sleeve is also edged with a sleeve band that allows for a subtle ruffled and gathered finish on the bottom of the sleeve.

For a blouse or dress all in delicacy and fluidity for the summer season you can choose the option of ruffled sleeves. Close to a sleeveless version, they wrap your shoulders and follow your movements. These little sleeves are also very feminine.
Baby bump compatible
Last detail and not least. The cut associated with the gathers on the front of the lower part of the dress or the blouse allow to welcome a little pregnancy bump 🤰
So this dress is totally baby bump compatible, whether you are in the early stages of pregnancy or approaching the delivery of the little chick 🐣
